Russell Knight, born in Baltimore, Maryland, on July 15, 1945, currently resides in San Pedro, California.

My father’s military service led me to live in various cities during my first two decades of life, including Sendai, Japan; Indianapolis, Indiana; St. Louis, Missouri; Metuchen, New Jersey; El Paso, Texas; and Karlsrule and Wurzburg, Germany. These frequent moves and changes have become an integral part of my early life, and they continue to shape my artistic journey.

My artwork reflects my constant evolution with change and exploration of new ideas. I possess the adaptability to embrace diverse techniques in painting, sculpture, and photography, and I am open to new ideas that inspire me. My artwork generates a multitude of ideas, encouraging me to delve deeper into the themes that captivate me.

My artistic practice is a journey of exploration, where I seek innovative ways to express the changing world around me. I don’t perceive my distinct styles as separate works, but rather as distinct concept chosen to convey specific ideas and emotions. Each shift in style is a conscious decision to embrace new techniques and perspectives, allowing me to explore deeper into the ideas that fuel my interest.
